A message from Revd Dr Naomi Wormell, St Mary’s Church, and Adam Bennett, Chair of the Royal British Legion, Cheveley Branch: –
We have received information from the Diocese of Ely and East Cambridgeshire District Council and the Royal British Legion, and have read the regulations published by the Government.
We recognise that we are unable to manage a covid-risk-secure event in the middle of the village and so we will not hold a formal Act of Remembrance at the war memorial or in the church this year.
We commend to you the advice of the Royal British Legion, which is to participate in the National Act of Remembrance on the television or the radio, and/or to mark the 2 minutes’ silence on your own doorstep.
You may also like to watch the short Act of Remembrance which the church and the RBL recorded before lockdown began: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUMQNF7I33VNBi1NnWjIGWQ and to use the resources available here http://www.cheveleygroup.org/index.php/worship/this-week-s-home-service
We are so sorry to have to say that we cannot stage a public and formal Act of Remembrance this year. Please join in praying for peace in our hearts and peace in our broken world.
The Revd Dr Naomi Wormell, Priest-in-Charge and Adam Bennett, on behalf of the Royal British Legion, Cheveley Branch.
