On Tuesday 4th January meetings of Cheveley Parish Council and Cheveley Pavilion & Recreation Ground Charity were held in Cheveley Parish Hall. Seven Councillors were in attendance, together with District and County Councillor Alan Sharp and a member of the public.
The Council undertook the annual review of its Risk Management and Risk Assessment Policy noting a few minor adjustments.
The Parish Hall was proving to be a great success and many bookings had already been taken and were committed to well into the New Year. It was felt that the requirement for the preparation and cleaning of the hall and other undertakings had been misunderstood when previously discussed and the possible need to employ a part time caretaker would be reviewed at the next meeting.
Various items of kitchen equipment were needed and it was agreed that the clerk would go ahead and purchase these.
Future annual testing of electrical equipment, appliances and lights at the hall would be carried out at the same time as this was done at the pavilion.
Thanks was given to Councillor Brent Noble and Jan Jones of the Community Association for their help in providing facilities to store chairs in the Community Room during the Christmas Fair and for assisting in the loan of four tables.
The new notice board for the Parish Hall was ready to be installed and consideration was given to where this should be placed. After much discussion it was agreed that this would be close to the front door where it could be viewed from the pavement.
At the meeting of Cheveley Pavilion & Recreation Ground Charity that immediately followed the Parish Council meeting it was reported that the annual New Year football match between teams from the villages of Moulton and Cheveley was this year held at Cheveley Recreation Ground. A good crowd enjoyed the mild weather and the match which was won by Moulton by 5 goals to 3.
The next meetings would be held on Tuesday 8th February 2022 at 7.30 p.m. in Cheveley Parish Hall.
